Still trying to live in the good 'n old days, I haven't quite yet find a better computer environment than a UNIX box. So should you find me talking or assuming like a UNIX user, you now know why. I am a big fan of LINUX, the best of which is of course that it is free and runs on almost anything! VINA, a software tool for video analysis, was developed on Linux. Although it grew out of a hobby project, VINA was actually used in real work by users other than UNIX users. There are more descriptions on VINA. |

Starting out as a mechanical engineering major, I am still fond of building things mechanical. One of the first attempts in my woodworking ambition was a dinning table with chairs. If you find the colour of the chairs does not match the table's colour, you are not mistaken. A "simple" arithmetic error occurred in calculating the number of spoons of lye (sodium hydroxide) to use during finishing. Another experimentation with the lye on a curio resulted in controversial judgment as to whether too much damage was done to cherry's native beauty or "it is just like what a cherry *should* look like". Comment? Drop me a line . |
