The Research in Patient Safety Division at University of Maryland School of Medicine has 4 positions open for undergraduate students to participate in research on information technology and coordination in trauma and intensive care

The projects investigate ways to support coordination and sense-making in taking care of critically ill patients through improving communications, where saving time is saving lives!
We are looking for students who are
- highly motivated and a self-starter
- enjoying the challenge of new problems
- inventors of new concepts in displays for doctors and nurses
The student will join a group conducting research in coordination in highly dynamic healthcare setting: trauma center.
In turn the student will have the opportunity of participating in projects funded by National Science Foundation and working with graduate students and professors from non-clinical fields. Being affiliated with Maryland Shock Trauma Center and University of Maryland Medical Center, we will arrange special visits for the students to observe Shock Trauma Center, the Maryland statewide EMS coordination center, and Intensive Care Units.
The funding mechanism for the positions is from National Science Foundation’s Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU). The positions are open immediately until filled and can be as long as a year. You have to be US citizens or permanent residents, and are enrolled as undergraduate students.
