Automated Drug Delivery in Satellite Pharmacy Operations
Delivering medication orders reliably and efficiently from the Shock Trauma Centre satellite pharmacy to the multiple trauma units is essential for proper patient care. A study is underway to measure the operational impact of the TUG robotic courier on pharmacy performance and stakeholder perception of this new technology.
To highlight some measures, pharmacy process time analysis will help us understand the operational and financial implications of an automated delivery system, while satisfaction surveys conducted with the nursing staff will provide feedback on reliability, timeliness, and ease of use.
Data analysis of baseline and trial data will indicate whether TUG robots are a feasible alternative to human delivery in the Shock Trauma environment, which may help reduce the workload of pharmacy personnel and allow them to focus on medication preparation. This may translate to increased productivity, accuracy, and timeliness of the patient drug delivery cycle.
